A Postcard from Pleasant Plus

I just received a postcard from Pleasant Plus. What or who is Pleasant Plus you ask? Well, I say Pleasant Plus is a charming post and beam cottage on the shores of Pleasant Bay. It looks like a full cedar shakes Cape Cod cottage with evergreen shutters and doors on the street side. Its bay side has lots of windows and a nice sized deck where one can sit in the sun, check out the bird migrations, and sip a cocktail while discussing the highlights of the day. Pleasant Plus is located on a cul-de-sac with a few dogwood trees and oaks. It features a yard filled with Rhododendrons, Lace Cap Hydrangeas, and Cranberry Viburnums.

So this is Pleasant Plus located on Pleasant Bay. Pleasant Bay is very pleasant!

Beach Football

With November rolling around, it might be a good time to talk about turkey-day two-handed touch beach football at the Pleasant Plus. We typically play on the beach, drawing our boundaries in the sand. Over the years, we've perfected a "half-court" version of the game.

There are no kickoffs, punts, or field goals. Instead, it features an unmoving line of scrimmage so that adults playing full-time quarterback don't have to run on sand with old bones, and perhaps leave their opposite hand is free to hold a beer. The playing surface then extends East to West along the beach, crossed with a one point line and a two point line. Getting the ball past these lines is a scoring play. Defenders starting behind the one-point line may rush the quarterback, and the ball turns over on an interception, after at least six points are scored, or there are three consecutive non-scoring plays. The first team to twenty-eight wins!

Welcome

As Pleasant Plus enters a new phase, we've decided to start a blog. Please find information about memories and fun activities that we've enjoyed here in this shared web log.
